Neville Green - 2008 YBPS TRIDENT
SCHOLARSHIP WINNER
Neville Green was born in Bridgetown, Barbados in 1990. As a child he exhibited
an eagerness to learn and the promise that the world was his to discover.
At the age of six, he met the then Prime Minister, The Honorable Owen Arthur.
At the invitation of the Prime Minister he visited his office, where Neville
shadowed him for the day.
In 2000, Neville’s father fell ill to leukemia. This ailment would cause
Neville’s family to migrate from Barbados to New York in hopes of preserving
his father’s life. Neville would use the strong academic foundation he received
at The Charles F. Broome Memorial Primary School in Barbados to propel him
in the United States.
Neville was continuously on the principal’s list and honor roll. He numerous
achievements include being inducted into the Yonkers Public Schools Superintendent’s
Club 90 on several occasions, as well as selected in The National Honor
Society and The National Business Honor Society. In 2008, Neville won the
National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship’s “Young Entrepreneur
of the Year” award.
Neville graduated from Lincoln High School as the top male in a class
of 300. Neville now attends The City College of New York, studying Biomedical
Engineering. He aspires to become an engineer and further his studies by
achieving a MBA. Neville’s ultimate goal is to return to Barbados and establish
a state of the art hospital capable of attending to patients with cancer,
HIV, and other serious illnesses.
